WordPress and Shopify

Put the chat on a WordPress site with the bidi Chat plugin, on a Shopify store with its app embed, or on any site with one line.

Before you start

You need two things from your dashboard: the assistant's public key (it starts with pk_; Settings > Channels > Install) and the site's address on the assistant's allowed list (Settings > Channels > Website chat), with and without www if the site opens both ways. The chat refuses to load on a site that is not on the list.

WordPress

  1. Download the plugin from Settings > Channels > Install in your dashboard, or from the install guides: bidi-chat.zip.
  2. In WordPress open Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, choose the zip and press Install Now, then Activate.
  3. Open Settings > bidi Chat, paste the assistant key and press Save.
  4. Open your site: the chat button appears on every page.

The plugin stores only the key, checks that it has a key's shape, and loads bidi's loader asynchronously in the footer, so it never slows the page down. Its settings page is in English and Arabic. Uninstalling it removes the key from every site of a network.

Shopify

  1. Install bidi Chat from its link or the Shopify App Store.
  2. Open Online Store > Themes > Customize > App embeds and switch bidi Chat on.
  3. Paste the assistant key and press Save.
  4. Allow the store's address in your dashboard, under Settings > Channels > Website chat.

The app is a theme app extension: one app embed and nothing else, with no admin pages, no API scopes and no customer data at Shopify. Its words in the theme editor are in English and Arabic. Until the app is listed, paste the embed code below into your theme.liquid, just before the closing body tag; the Shopify guide in the install guides shows where.

Any other website

One line before the closing body tag of every page, or in your site builder's custom code setting. The install guides walk through Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Google Tag Manager and more.
